Years later after the Fourth Great Ninja War, now overseeing a new generation in the Ninja World, Naruto Uzumaki achieves his dream of becoming the Seventh Hokage after he and Hinata Hyuga have a family of their own, their two children Boruto and Himawari Uzumaki. Boruto has become part of a ninja team led by Naruto’s protege Konohamaru Sarutobi, which also consists of Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno’s daughter Sarada Uchiha and Orochimaru’s artificial son Mitsuki. Feeling that his father is placing his Hokage duties over his family, upset that he missed Himawari’s birthday, Boruto meets Sasuke when he comes to the village to warn Naruto of an impending threat. Boruto manages to convince Sasuke to teach him his father’s Rasengan for the upcoming Chunin Exam. But Boruto’s need for his father’s attention drives him to cheat using the prototype Kote device that Katasuke created, only for his father to disqualify him during his match with Shikadai Nara, Shikamaru and Temari’s son. The two have an argument until Momoshiki and Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki, the figures Sasuke warned Naruto of, appear and abduct the Hokage so they can use Kurama to revitalize the dying Shinju from the dimension which they came from.
Seeing his father risking his life to protect everyone, Boruto realizes he was wrong about Naruto, and convinces Sasuke and the Five Kage to take him with them to make amends with his father. They arrive in the other dimension and find Naruto as the battle commences before Momoshiki turns Kinshiki into a chakra pill that he ingests to increase his strength, overpowering everyone due to Katasuke’s interference. As Sasuke distracts Momoshiki, a weakened Naruto lends his remaining chakra to Boruto so his son can kill Momoshiki with a giant Rasengan. Though dying, noting his killer’s untapped potential, Momoshiki lives long enough to have a private discussion with Boruto and warns him that he soon will face much tribulation later on in his life. Boruto is later revealed to have gained god-like powers from defeating Momoshiki. Without knowing what the future holds for him, Boruto accepts his fate.
Boruto Uzumaki is the son of Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuga who attends Konoha’s ninja academy, inheriting his paternal family’s short blond hair, blue eyes and “Believe it!” verbal tic. He also inherits his maternal family’s Gentle Fist technique despite apparently not inheriting the Byakugan unlike his sister, Himawari. Like his father when he used to pull pranks to have his existence be acknowledged, Boruto tends to commit mischief to get his father’s attention after he became Hokage by defacing the Hokage Monument during the events of the series epilogue, but his father stops him and explains that he needs to care for their village. Upon being scolded by Naruto, Boruto realizes his underhandedness and joins the rescue team to save the abducted Naruto, while finally gaining his father’s compliment. While at first resenting the Hokage position, especially due to his feelings for Sarada, Boruto becomes resolute to become strong to protect his village’s leader, and entrust Sarada to be a future Hokage instead of Boruto. Unlike his predecessors, Boruto is capable of throwing a mini Rasengan, which can vanish and re-appear in a short interval.
Sarada Uchiha is the daughter of Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. She seems to have inherited traits from both her parents, like her mother’s “Cha!” verbal tic and her father’s aloofness and reluctance to acknowledge certain people, but she is not above commending them when they truly deserve it. Sarada is a central character of Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring, searching for her estranged father while feeling she and Sakura are not related. Gaining her Sharingan in the process, but not having a good first impression of her father Sasuke, Sarada felt hurt and betrayed when she suspects being Karin’s biological child as the two wear similar glasses. While Naruto helps her realize that family is not a matter of blood, Sarada later learns that Sakura is her biological mother as Karin explained that she was Sakura’s midwife. Before leaving again, Sasuke shows Sarada how much he loves her and promises to come home soon. Having admired Naruto and his dedication to his village, Sarada makes it her goal to become the next Hokage one day. She finds Boruto annoying, but is later hinted to have a mutual crush on him.Sarada Uchiha
Mitsuki is a teammate of Boruto and Sarada, a mysterious boy with a calm mind and a penchant for making snide remarks. His backstory is explored in Naruto Gaiden: The Road Illuminated by the Full Moon, where it is revealed that Mitsuki is an artificial human created by Orochimaru for the latter’s interests, gaining the name Mitsuki from the fact that he is a “vessel” for the “snake” to inhabit. He was put to test by Orochimaru and another of his creations called Log to determine his allegiance; Mitsuki decided to follow his own path as the “moon” instead of a vessel, setting out towards the Hidden Leaf to find his “sun”: Boruto Uzumaki. Mitsuki can extend his limbs by using chakra to dislocate his joints, while his experimentation by Orochimaru allows him to access Sage Mode as well.
